Virginia Manufactory Cavalry Sabre
Very rare "Third Model Virginia Manufactory Sabre" originally manufactured at the Virginia Manufactory, located in Richmond, Virginia. This facility also produced pistols, muskets, rifles and swords for Virginia, between 1804 and 1821. With the onset of the Civil War in 1860, Virginia contracted with Ames of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts to have 1000 swords reconfigured for C.S. Virginia Cavalry use. Ames manufacturing, completed the order for the state of Virginia before the onset of the Union Naval blockade. The blades were slimmed, with  scabbards reconfigured and finished with brass mounts. A very rare Confederate sabre, utilized by the early Virginia Cavalry Regiments. This Virginia Manufactory sabre survives in a near perfect state of preservation.          CS Acquisitions Museum
